Ear to the Ground with Jen Wilding, Area Sales Manager for the Midlands

The subjects concentrating the mind as 2025 establishes itself are storage, practicality, colours and textures, says Jen Wilding, our Area Sales Manager for the Midlands. We’ll look at the first two in a moment, but first, we’re seeing an emerging trend for how colours and textures excite our senses.

The emphasis on texture covers a wide spectrum, from deep, embossed wood grains to fluted and framed materials.

EGGER - H3359 Light Natural Davenport Oak

Combined with earthy, natural tones and neutral colours, the sought-after vibe is one of cosiness – not surprising at this time of the year.

Terracotta, browns and warm oranges teamed with calming, muted greys, beiges and taupes are proving equally popular in kitchen and bedroom spaces, complementing a mix and match of metals on appliances, handles, sinks and taps.

We are seeing these trends crossover into commercial projects too, giving office spaces, retail outlets and leisure facilities a warm and welcoming ambience.

Mocha Tessea and Chocolate from the Kronospan Trends Origin Stories collection are good examples. This is  Kronospan’s latest addition to their world-leading range of wood-based decorative panels, which has been conceived to answer the demands of upcoming trends.

Another good example is the Amanzi brushed copper hot water tap from our trading partner Reginox, with its high-end luxury appearance.

All Reginox hot water taps come with the latest 3L tank technology with adjustable temperatures from 75 to 98 degrees and antiscale filters, that fulfil consumer demand fuelled by the desire to save worktop space and money on energy bills by opting for instant hot water instead of turning on the kettle!

Storage and Practicality.

Now, let’s talk about storage and practicality. How do you create space for those huge containers of  washing powders/liquids and the 72 rolls of toilet paper that consumers buy in bulk? Every nook and cranny in our living space is being used for clever and innovative storage to maximise every inch of our homes. Fashions for dressing rooms and home offices with storage solutions continue to combine dual use spaces and still seems to be a high priority for project specification.

Glide Sliding Doors.

Our Glide sliding doors come into their own here. Using a high quality aluminium track and frame system with a superior sliding mechanism, these made-to-measure doors offer the ultimate quality in motion.

The range now features an upgraded soft-close mechanism on all models for even smoother use – all backed up with a six-year guarantee.

There’s currently 10% OFF the full Glide range – that’s 500-plus décors – featuring glass, vinyl wrapped, acrylic, PVC & MFC sheet material. Just use the voucher code GLIDE10 when you order. (Offer ends 03/04/2025).

Here’s two examples of how Glide sliding doors have been used in projects by two of our customers – K M Interiors of Bolton and Manchester Board and Fittings based in Walkden.

They are perfect for creating storage under a sloping ceiling, as the guys at K M Interiors have done as you can see from our before and after pictures.

They’ve achieved this using equal triple panel Glide doors with white/grey MFC top and bottom and light grey MFC in the middle. The addition of a full-panel silver mirror in the middle not only adds practicality but creates the illusion of space.

Manchester Board & Fittings Project - Glide Sliding Doors (Caraway Classic Square Style)

This chic wardrobe installation by Manchester Board and Fittings is achieved with a Primo silver frame, left and right full panel Caraway classic square vinyl panel doors in super matt dust, with a full silver panel mirror in the middle.

Blum Space Tower.

Products like Blum’s Space Tower for slim larder units work well. It’s everything you would expect from Blum, providing the ultimate practical convenience. It has:

  • Pull-outs that can be opened individually, giving the user clear visibility and direct access to the contents, which are accessible from three sides – left, right and front.
  • Storage using the full depth of the housing cabinet, enabling full extension of each shelf.

Space Tower is available in various heights, widths (ranging from 300mm to 1200mm), and depths, offering a great opportunity for customisation. And just because Space Tower is termed a larder unit, don’t think of it as only being good for kitchen projects. It is also ideal for bedrooms, hallways and bathrooms with all its built-in storage and convenience just as handy for clothes and/or toiletries.
